About IsThisAI?

IsThisAI? is a free, simple tool that estimates how likely a piece of text was written by an AI tool like ChatGPT. Paste text or upload a document and you get a clear score, a plain-English verdict, and the sentences that look most AI-like.

How it works

We combine an open-source AI-detection model from Desklib (when available) with transparent writing-pattern checks: how much sentence length varies ("burstiness"), phrases AI tools overuse, vocabulary variety, tone, and word length. Our list of AI-typical words and style patterns (puffery, "stands as", negative parallelisms like "not just X, but Y", rule-of-three lists, em-dash overuse, chatbot phrases) is adapted from Wikipedia's Signs of AI writing guide by WikiProject AI Cleanup and its contributors, used under CC BY-SA 4.0; our adapted pattern list is shared under the same license. Uploaded files are read inside your browser.

Limits

No AI detector is perfect. Short texts, heavily edited text, and writing by non-native speakers can be misjudged. Treat results as one signal, not proof.
